When Donald Trump goes to Davos and tries to paint Europe as a weak ally with an economy in free fall, it’s worth taking a breath. Economists like Paul Krugman point out that this story is often more political theater than reality—and it gets amplified by propaganda that benefits from a divided Europe.
Europe isn’t perfect, but it’s nowhere near powerless. It has a massive shared market, strong industrial hubs, world-class research, and a highly educated workforce. European companies set the bar in everything from healthcare and energy to tech, design, and manufacturing. And European societies have shown, again and again, that they can adapt fast when crises hit.
The point isn’t to pretend there aren’t real challenges. It’s to stop buying into the cartoon version of a Europe in nonstop decline. With teamwork, smart investment, and a bit more confidence, Europe can use its real economic strength to protect security, create growth, and defend freedom—even when others shout the opposite.
